With her cruelty-free offerings and vegan formulas, it’s no secret that Kat Von D is an animal lover. However, the makeup mogul just took things a step further with a new addition to the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick range. 20% of the retail price of the new shade, ‘Project Chimps’, will benefit its namesake charity that saves chimpanzees from being tested upon. Since we love it when beauty gives back, we got ourselves a tube. Here is our review.
On the packaging front, this liquid lipstick is exactly like the others from the line. The transparent, plastic tube allows you to see the exact shade of lipstick before purchasing, whilst the name is mentioned on a sticker beneath the tube. The slim, doe-foot applicator helps distribute the colour smoothly and evenly.
When it comes to formula, it’s evident that the brand knows what they are doing. The colour glided across our lips, without streaking. However, do not rub your lips together whilst waiting for the lipstick to dry down, as this will cause the colour to flake and migrate. ‘Project Chimps’ is a stunning, deep brownish-red with a completely matte finish. One swipe provides a nearly opaque coat of colour, but feel free to layer on more to get a more intense effect.
We tested this lipstick out like true beauty editors – over salads and sangrias! The colour wore well for about 6 hours and did not transfer or fade throughout our meal. Unlike many matte lipsticks, it did not dry out our lips.
Bold, long lasting and ultra pigmented, this rusty red hue is definitely worth a buy. The fact that the proceeds benefit animals is only the cherry on top! Rush and get yourself tube now, cause this baby is limited edition.
