From gilded lips to foil effects, it’s evident that metallic hues are making a massive comeback. Since we love to keep up with the latest trends, we decided to try the most wearable way to rock this fad… by buying gold nail polish! Here is our review of the L'Oreal Paris Color Riche A L'Huile Nail Paint in ‘660 L'Or’.
One of the first things you will notice about this product is its cool packaging. The lacquer comes in a cut glass bottle with a gold cap. The exact shade name is mentioned on a sticker beneath the bottle. We usually stash our polishes away in a drawer, but this chic bottle owns a proud spot on our vanity table! Another major plus point is the attached brush. Unlike most brushes, this one is thicker and wider with a rounded tip. The size helps paint nails quickly, whilst the density allows the brush to pick up more of the product. The brush is also drip-resistant due to its indented structure.
In terms of formula, there are a few ups and downs. Although it is marketed as an oil-infused product, we found that the consistency of the lacquer was thicker than other polishes we’ve tried. The colour went on semi-opaquely, without the formation of any bubbles. However, the formula is streaky on application. On the positive side, the thick consistency did not increase the drying time of the lacquer. One coat takes about 7 minutes to dry down completely. ‘660 L’Or’ is a pure gold hue with a frosty finish. For maximum pigmentation and impact, we recommend applying two coats. Due to the presence of oils, the formula is scented, so be warned if you are sensitive to fragrances.
We’ve been flaunting this shade for a week now and honestly we couldn’t be more impressed! The colour has stayed true, without any fading or chipping. Even the edges of our nail, which usually give way due to our frantic typing sessions, have stayed immaculate.
Long lasting, lustrous and rich, this lacquer is the one to buy. We can’t wait to get our hands on the other hues from this range.
