In my opinion, red lipstick is the ultimate confidence booster. Sporting a bold, crimson pout makes me feel powerful, yet utterly feminine. Since literally everyone I know has been talking about how incredible and affordable ColourPop is, I decided to try out the brand’s Lippie Stix in ‘Bossy’. Here is my review.
The product comes packaged in a sleek, white tube with silver lettering. The bottom of the tube is coloured, so as to correspond to the exact hue of the lipstick. It also features a sticker, which has the shade name printed on it. Whilst the outer packaging is pretty standard, the inside holds a cool, angled bullet. The unique shape allowed me to reach every corner of my lip precisely.
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting too much out of the formula considering the price point. So, I was mighty surprised with how smoothly and evenly the colour went on! The consistency does tend to feel a bit waxy, but the pigmentation is beyond par. ‘Bossy’ is a gorgeous, blue-toned red with a matte finish. Unlike most lipsticks in this category, the matte finish of this one looks luminous and dimensional. Although one coat was enough to cover my lips, I added another to really amp up the colour.
To see how well the lipstick held up, I tested it out over the weekend. The colour stayed put for about 5 hours, with only a tiny bit of smudging. However, the formula is no match for any kind of food or drink. At the end of a long Sunday brunch, the margarita glass flaunted a better red lip than I did. On the plus side, the lipstick felt comfortable to wear and did not dry out my pout.
Affordable, saturated and creamy, this lipstick is definitely a steal. I can’t wait to try the rest of the range out!
