Come rain or shine, our lids are never bereft of eye liner. Thus, it’s important for us to find formulas that won’t flake or smear – no matter what the climate is like. Since we have a weak spot for Bobbi Brown (her shadow stick changed our lives), we decided to try out the brand’s new Long-Wear Waterproof Liner in ‘Rich Plum’.
The product comes in a black, plastic tube that looks minimalistic and elegant. The shade band at the bottom depicts the exact shade inside. Since the liner comes in a twist-up format, it eliminates the need for sharpening and thus prevents product wastage. Unlike eye pencils, this liner has a fine tip that helps in drawing on a precise cat eye.
On application, we found that the formula wasn’t as creamy as we thought it would be. Since it is made with the lowest possible level of oils and waxes, the tip felt hard and tugged on our lids. However, this problem remedied itself after a few strokes, as the product warmed up to our skin. ‘Rich Plum’ is a gorgeous, deep purple with subtle shimmer. One coat provides semi-opaque pigmentation. As the formula is easy to layer, we recommend going back and forth a few times to get more colour payoff.
The biggest selling point of the liner however, is its lasting power. The formula stayed put for 8 hours on a hot, humid day, with only a slight amount of smudging. The colour stayed true and rich, with practically no fading. In fact, the longevity was so good that we had to use an oil-based cleanser to get the entire product off! Another major plus point is that the product is completely waterproof. Apart from the obvious benefits, this factor also made it possible to use the liner to tightline our waterlines.
Transfer-proof, long lasting and opaque, this liner is definitely a contender for sweaty gym sessions or monsoon treks. Although it isn’t the smoothest or most pigmented of the lot, we can’t deny that its staying power is absolutely incredible. Try it out and let us know what you think!
