Although makeup is great at hiding flaws, we believe the best part about it is its ability to enhance our features. Which is why we were so excited to try out Charlotte Tilbury’s Colour Chameleon Eye Shadow Pencils! With a promise to make your natural eye colour pop, these pencils have gotten a lot of traction in the beauty industry. Here is our review of ‘Dark Pearl’.
Like most products in this category, this one comes in the form of a jumbo-sized eye pencil. The disadvantage to this traditional design is that it requires to be frequently sharpened, which causes a lot of product wastage. The maroon aesthetic of the pencil follows the brand’s theme, but the attached cap has a hard time staying in place. The shade name is written on the side, whilst a colour band is present at the bottom of the pencil.
On application, we found that the shadow has a soft and creamy texture. The blunt tip helped us apply the colour smoothly and uniformly. However, the formula dries completely in 30 seconds so you need to work quickly to blend it out. ‘Dark Pearl’ is a stunning taupe hue with purple tones and a rose gold shimmer. As promised, this hue did bring out the colour of our brown eyes. One swipe provides a sheer finish, but you can easily layer on more to increase the intensity of your look.
We tested this shadow out over the weekend and were astounded with the longevity. The colour stayed true and shimmery for over 8 hours, with no fading or smudging. Even those of us with oily lids found that the product stayed put for the same amount of time. On the downside, this product does emphasize any eye lid creases, so we recommend using a primer prior to application.
Luminous, pigmented and budge-proof, this pencil definitely ranks amongst our favourites. Although we won’t be using it in conjunction with other shadows due to its fast drying time, it works wonderfully for an all out wash of colour.
