Clinique Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly
Anyone who knows me knows about my love affair with Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. However, after I finished up another bottle (I think it was my 4th one), I began wondering if there was another moisturizer out there for me. As fate would have it, the brand launched a new product in the same range called the Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly. Here is my review.
The product comes in a clear, plastic, square-shaped bottle with a pump to dispense the formula. This type of packaging makes it easy to travel with the moisturizer and is hygienic to use. The ingredients and directions for use are mentioned on the accompanying box.
Clinique Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly
In terms of formula, this moisturizer is quite a delight to use. Although it is jelly-like inside the bottle, the consistency is quite watery and thin. The oil-free formula spreads across the skin smoothly and easily, without pilling or tugging, and has a subtle cooling effect. Although it is transparent in colour, I’ve noticed that if I use the moisturizer directly on dry skin, it leaves behind a slightly sticky residue. To remedy this, I recommend applying it on damp skin, as it absorbs better and dries down to an undetectable, matte finish. As with the original gel, this one too comes free of any fragrance. I require 2 pumps to cover my entire face.

I’ve been using this moisturizer for over a month now and have been pretty happy with the results. The lightweight formula feels like a tall drink of water for my skin and deals effectively with any dry patches. Whilst it isn’t the most moisturizing product available, it works for my combination skin. After using it every morning, I’ve noticed that my complexion is more balanced and my face feels softer to touch. Another major plus point is that it plays well under makeup and does not cause any caking. On the downside, this moisturizer definitely doesn’t live up to its claims of 24-hour hydration. I definitely need to re-apply at night or top it off with a heavier formula. I can’t speak much about the pollution protection as I haven’t really noticed any visible changes in those regards.
Weightless, non-greasy and hydrating, this jelly is ideal for those with combination-to-oily skin or acne-prone complexions. Whilst I do prefer the gel for winter, I know I’ll be turning to this cooling formula as the weather gets hotter.
