Contouring (verb):
A technique which has the unique ability to transform any person into Kim Kardashian.
Before the advent of Photoshop, contouring was the only way to alter your appearance. From slimming your nose to creating cheekbones where there were none, this method had everyone reaching for their bronzers.
Unfortunately, contouring isn’t all that easy! Do you trace a 3 on your face? Do you apply a bronzer where there are shadows? Clearly this technique bamboozles even the best of us. Luckily, we came across a super easy trick to help us out. While it may not sculpt our entire face, it definitely gives us chiselled cheekbones – a necessity for those of us with round faces!
Step One:
Pick out a bronzer that is about 2 shades darker than your natural skin tone. Cream formulas are easier to blend, while powder bronzers work better for those with oily skin. For absolute beginners, we recommend using stick formulas like Clinique’s Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour or NYX’s Wonder Stick.
Step Two:
Smile! Now, do you see the curved part of your cheek when you grin? Trace your bronzer lightly along that line. You can intensify the shade by repeating the application – just make sure that you don’t go too dark!
Step Three:
The key to contouring is blending. For cream bronzers, use a damp beautyblender and buff gently to get a natural finish. For powder formulas, opt for a small contouring brush.
Do you see how your cheekbones are popping? Try out this genius trick and let the world marvel at your contouring skills.
