What’s a cake without frosting? What’s a nail without polish? Incomplete! We truly believe that nail paints are the finishing touch to every outfit, whether it’s a classic red or a funky blue. In honour of our nail addiction, we decided to list out 5 nail hacks to perfect your manicure.
1. Glue Up
Unless you have a hand that’s as steady as Picasso, you will usually find some nail paint on the sides of your fingers. For a clean, precise mani, paint around your nails with craft glue. Once your polish has dried, simply peel off the glue and erase your mistakes! If glue isn’t your thing, try Vaseline instead.
2. White It Out
How many times have you bought a pretty lacquer, only to be disappointed that it looks duller in reality? Well, we refuse to let you have buyer’s remorse! To make your colours pop, layer them on top of white, opaque nail polish.
3. Use Your Tools
Full disclosure – nail art terrifies the life out of us. However, we’ve discovered that simple household items can provide the coolest art. For polka dots, dip the rounded end of a bobby pin in the colour of your choice and dot it on. If swirls are more your style, use a toothpick to draw an intricate design.
4. Smudge Off
One of the most annoying feelings in the world is when you are just about finished painting your nails, and you manage to smudge it. Rather than scrubbing your entire polish off in frustration, dip a Q-tip in remover and gently rub over the smudge. Then, add the original shade and seal with a top coat.
5. Quick Dry
Sit tight for 15 minutes while your lacquer dries? Ain’t nobody got time for that! Use a quick-drying top coat to speed up the process. If you don’t have a top coat handy, spritz on a cooking spray or hairspray.
