When it comes to heels, clothes or bags, my mom and I are pretty generous about sharing. Makeup however, is a whole different story. If either one of us need to borrow a lipstick (she has a great collection) or highlighter (I’m a hoarder), the usual system involves a ton of badgering and begging. Since she’s been eyeing the Tom Ford Cream Color For Eyes in ‘Spice’ for a while now, I decided to write about it before it mysteriously disappears from my makeup kit. Here is my review.
The eye shadow comes in a transparent, weighted glass jar. The screw-on, metallic brown cap ensures that the formula does not dry out. Whilst the packaging certainly feels luxurious, it requires a little extra care when you travel with it. The exact shade name is mentioned on a sticker beneath the jar.
Upon application, I found the shadow to be utterly decadent. The creamy-mousse texture allows the formula to glide on smoothly and weightlessly, without any tugging at all. The consistency also allows for easy blending and layering. ‘Spice’ is golden-bronze hue with warm undertones and pearlescent, shimmery finish. The pigmentation is the real winner here as a tiny amount can go a long way. The only downside is that you need to wait for a minute before layering on another coat, so that the shadow can dry down completely. In all honesty, I’ve only been applying one coat, since the colour is intense enough.
After wearing this shadow out to a couple of events, I have to say that I am so impressed. The formula stays put for over 8 hours, without smudging or fading. Another major plus point is that the shadow does not crease or flake at all.
If you are looking for a neutral hue with a little jazz, this baby is the one for you. Although it is terribly expensive, I can confidently say that it’s worth the investment. In fact, I might just buy my mom another jar so that I can keep this one to myself!
