Review: Tarte Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint In 'Twerk'
The liquid lipstick obsession is currently out of control at Glossip Girl, and our next target is Tarte’s Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paints! Wittily named after this millennium’s buzzwords (think ‘cray-cray’, ‘hangry’ and ‘fomo’), these babies promise to deliver long wearing colour and full coverage. Here is our review of ‘Twerk’.
The lipstick comes in a plastic tube with a black cap. The transparency of the package allows you to see the exact shade inside, whilst the gold lettering gives the product a chic vibe. The cap has a brush applicator attached to it, which is slim enough to reach all corners of your lips. The shade name is printed beneath tube.
On application, we found that the product went on smoothly and semi-opaquely. Due to its thin consistency, the lipstick has a slip to it and never dries down completely. The product also has a subtle minty fragrance to it. ‘Twerk’ is a muted fuchsia shade, which leans towards the cooler end. Although it is marketed as a matte lip paint, the lipstick actually has a satin-like finish. For maximum coverage, we recommend layering on 2-3 coats.
We tested this product out on a regular workday and discovered that it had a 5-hour wear time. Although it did transfer when we ate or drank something, it left behind enough pigment to pass off as a lip stain. On the plus side, the lipstick did not settle into the fine lines of our lips nor did it dry our pouts out.
Plush, weightless and non-drying, this vegan lipstick is guaranteed to make a bold statement. Whilst it may not be completely transfer-proof or long lasting, there’s no denying that it makes our pouts look fabulous!
