No matter how old we grow, there’s always the little girl in us who loves glitter. So you can imagine the squeals of excitement when we heard that Stila was launching a range of sparkly eye shadows. Since we had to get our hands on this launch, here we are reviewing the brand’s Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in ‘Smoldering Satin’.

Considering that the formula is on the liquid side, the product does not come housed in a the regular eye shadow pan or pot. Instead, it’s packaged into a transparent, square tube – much like that of a liquid lipstick. The attached brush has soft bristles which help in smooth application. The exact shade name is mentioned on a sticker beneath the tube.

In terms of formula, this product is as described. The thin and water-like consistency allowed the shadow to glide smoothly on to our lids, with zero tugging. It even imparts a pleasant, cooling sensation when applied. The best feature however, is that although it contains glitter, the eye shadow does not feel gritty at all. Whilst the colour goes on pretty evenly, we did find a bit of patchiness at times. ‘Smoldering Satin’ is a gorgeous, smoky bronze with fairly large, flecks of silver glitter. One swipe provides a completely opaque coat of colour. Ensure that you keep your lids closed for about a minute after putting on this shadow so that it can dry down completely.

For the sake of true testing, we wore this baby out to a cocktail party. Apart from the numerous compliments we got, we were thrilled to see that the shadow stayed put for over 7 hours, without creasing or smudging. Whilst the colour stayed true and sparkly, there was a tiny bit of fallout due to the glitter particles. Another major plus point is that unlike most glitter products, this one came off easily at the end of night with the help of a makeup wipe. There was no need to rub our lids frequently or double cleanse.

Intensely pigmented, comfortable and long lasting, this eye shadow exceeded our expectations. Although you can’t wear it to work, it definitely gives off major party vibes!
