Do you think I should add the title, ‘Professional Lipstick Hoarder’, on to my business card? Considering that I just went and bought about 5 new lipsticks this month, despite having overflowing bins of products, I think the title is quite fair. In my defense, however, each of the shades I purchased are absolutely gorgeous. Since I have a major weakness for luxe lipsticks, I thought I would review the biggest splurge first. Here is my review of the Sisley Paris Phyto-Lip Twist Mat in ’21 Ruby’.
Like the original Phyto-Lip Twist, this one too comes in the form of a chubby, twist-up crayon and is packaged in a chic, zebra print. The bevelled tip allows the colour to reach every corner of the lips and helps in precise application. The exact shade name is mentioned on a colour-coded sticker beneath the tube.
In terms of formula, this product isn’t exactly as described. As promised, the velvety texture and smooth consistency ensured that the colour glided on evenly, without tugging at my lips. ’21 Ruby’ is a gorgeous, deep pinkish red with a semi-matte finish. Although this product is marketed as a tinted balm, it is actually very pigmented. Two coats of the formula are more than enough to get full coverage.
I’ve been wearing this product nonstop for the past few weeks and can’t get enough of this vibrant hue. The colour stays put for about 4 to 5 hours and then fades evenly into a pretty, flushed stain. However, the formula does transfer and is no match for a heavy meal or several cups of coffee. On the plus side, this lipstick is one of the most comfortable ones I’ve ever worn. The plush formula keeps my pout hydrated and makes my lips look fuller.
Rich, lightweight and easy to use, this luxurious lipstick totally exceeded my expectations. Although my bank account did let out a little sigh when I purchased it, I can safely say that I have no regrets now!
