Review: Pat McGrath Permagel Ultra Glide Eye Pencil In ‘Blitz Brown’

Pat McGrath Permagel Ultra Glide Eye Pencil In ‘Blitz Brown’

Although I’ve been loyal to my black eyeliner for years now, I’ve been on the lookout for something more natural to define my eyes with. Since neutral hues fit my requirement exactly, I decided to get my hands on the Pat McGrath Permagel Ultra Glide Eye Pencil in ‘Blitz Brown’. Here is my review.

Like the lipstick, this eye pencil packaged with a sharpener in a stiff, cardboard box that unravels with a cord. The chic black and white container, coupled with tinges of gold, adds to the luxurious vibe of the product. The pencil itself is quite standard and requires frequent sharpening, which leads to wastage of the formula. The exact shade name is printed in gold lettering across the body of the pencil, whilst a band at the bottom depicts the colour of the product.

I had high expectations from the formula… and luckily, it did not disappoint! The tip of the pencil was creamy and soft but did not crumble or flake upon application. The liner glided evenly across my lids, without tugging at my skin. ‘Blitz Brown’ is a chocolate brown hue with hints of bronze and a pearlescent finish. The shade is quite pigmented, so I only required 2 strokes to achieve full opacity.

I’ve been using this liner all throughout wedding season and I’m not entirely convinced by it. Whilst the colour is absolutely gorgeous and provides subtle definition to my eyes, it fades away in about 2 hours on my oily lids. When applied over an eye shadow primer, it stays put for about 6 hours. Since this formula definitely qualifies as a splurge, I was hoping to use it by itself. On the positive side, this formula has proven to be waterproof and has lasted me through a couple of teary toasts.

Pigmented, smooth and easy-to-use, this velvety pencil is best reserved for those with dry or normal skin. Whilst I will be applying it on special occasions, I’ll turn to my trusted liquid liner for everyday use.

Price: USD 28.00
