NARS Velvet Shadow Stick In ‘Hollywoodland’
In our beauty-obsessed minds, Hollywood and makeup are closely related. Whether it’s a blockbuster film or a star-studded red carpet, makeup products play a huge role in creating the perfect look. Thus, when we chanced upon NARS’ Velvet Shadow Stick in ‘Hollywoodland’, we were excited to see whether this product would live up to its glamorous namesake! Here is our review.
The shadow is encased in a chic, matte black tube with the brand’s name printed on in white. Unlike traditional eye shadows, this product comes in a twist-up format, making it easy to travel with, as it requires no sharpening! The exact shade can be seen on the bottom of the tube.

Upon application, we found that the formula glided easily across our lids, without any tugging. The creamy texture and domed tip makes the shadow easy to work with. Be careful not to blink too much initially as it does take about 5 minutes for the formula to dry completely. ‘Hollywoodland’ is a brightened, pale gold shade, with a frosted finish. One swipe provides good colour payoff, but you can layer on another coat for a statement look.

When used alone, this product stays on for about 6 hours, without any creasing or fading. However, those with oily lids will require a primer underneath. As suggested by the brand, we also used the product in conjunction with a powder shadow, which increased the wear time to 8 hours.
Dramatic, velvety and pigmented, this shadow stick definitely lives up to its hype. Pair with a bold lip and oodles of mascara to look red carpet ready!
