Whilst some may call this snooping, this activity is actually sanctioned because it gets our creative juices flowing like no other! The one item we always find? Black liner! Thus, when Maybelline sent over their latest Colossal Super Black Kajal, we couldn’t wait to review it.
The liner comes in a sleek, black and yellow tube – a reverse of the shades on the original Colossal Kajal packaging. Like its predecessor, this kajal also comes in a twist-up format which is a huge plus point it doesn’t require any sharpening, and thus reduces wastage.

On application, we found the liner to be creamy and smooth. We love the fact that it did not tug at our eyelids or break on pressure. The thin, rounded tip allowed for precise application and made it easy to draw on a neat cat eye. One swipe provides a decent amount of pigment, with a chic matte finish. For an ultra-black, intense look, we recommend going over the line once again. The best part of the formula however, is the fact that it’s gentle enough to use on sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.

Although the product claims to last for an impressive 16 hours, we found that it stayed on our lids for about 8 hours… which is really no cause for complaint! The colour stayed true and bold, with minimal fading. We even tested out its waterproof capabilities, and were pleased with the results. However, those with oily lids will definitely need a primer as the liner may smudge.
