Not many things get us excited like the words ‘MAC’ and ‘lipstick’. Put the two together and you will find us in a state of frenzy! We’ve always been fans of the brand’s iconic lipsticks, so when we heard that they are hopping on the liquid lipstick bandwagon; we had to check it out. Here is our review of ‘Dance With Me’ from the Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour collection.

The product comes in a transparent, plastic tube with MAC’s trademark black cap. The clear packaging allows you to see the exact colour of the lipstick. The product also comes with a plush, tapered applicator, which makes it easy to reach all the corners of your lips. The shade name is mentioned on a sticker at the bottom of the tube.

On application, we found the texture of the product to be slightly thicker and mousse-like – which is a contrast to the runny consistency of other liquid lipsticks. Whilst the texture helps in providing pigmentation, it also leads to patchy application. We recommend waiting for about a minute after applying each coat, to allow the lipstick to dry completely. ‘Dance With Me’ is a beautiful, cranberry red with pink undertones and an ultra matte finish. For an opaque look, layer on two coats.

As far as the longevity goes, this lipstick lives up to MAC’s amazing reputation. The colour stayed true and bold for a good 6 hours, without smudging. Despite being subjected to a decadent meal, the product only transferred a tiny bit from the inner corners of our lips. On the downside, this lipstick can be extremely drying after a few hours of wear. Proper exfoliation and a heavy-duty lip balm are essential to prep your pout.
