What is it with eye shadow sticks and me? Until recently, I thought I loved all eye shadows equally. After taking recent stock of my makeup stash, I realised that most of the formulas I use solely belong to the stick category. This can probably be attributed to the fact that I’m always running late and doing up my face in the backseat of a taxi. This is also probably why I was instantly attracted to the L’Oreal Color Riche Le Stylo Smoky Eye Shadows. Here is my review of the shade, ‘Glamour Khaki’.
The product comes packaged in a metallic gold and black pencil. What makes it interesting though is that it is dual-ended. One side holds a chubby, twist-up crayon, whilst the other consists of a small kabuki brush to blend the colour in. Not only is this feature perfect for girls on the go, but also eliminates the need to carry a blending brush whilst travelling. Each side also has a firm, black cap to keep the formula and brush safe. The exact shade name is mentioned on a sticker beneath the cap.
In terms of formula, this shadow was quite a hit. The soft and creamy consistency ensures that the colour goes on smoothly, without tugging or pulling the lids. ‘Glamour Khaki’ is a gorgeous khaki green that contains micro-flecks of gold shimmer in it. The formula dries down quickly so you need to work fast to blend the colour in. I usually apply 2 coats to get full opacity.
I’ve worn this shade to a couple of weddings recently and have received several compliments on eye makeup. Since my lids are on the oilier side, the colour stayed put for about 4 hours. However, when I prepped my lids with a primer, I found that the formula did not smudge, fade or flake for over 6 hours. Those with dry-to-normal skin should be able to wear this shadow all day without any fear of it migrating. Another major plus point is that it did not crease or emphasise any fine lines.
Smooth, blendable and rich, this shimmery eye shadow is definitely one you should purchase. I’ve already it added it to my regular rotation!
