Review: Lancôme Juicy Shaker In 'Mangoes Wild'
Capris, body glitter, fruity body mists… the ‘90s was filled with defining trends. However, the epitome of coolness in that era was undoubtedly Lancôme’s Juicy Tubes. Ultra glossy, sticky and hip, these tubes were the reason we saved up our allowances… which is why we were so excited to hear that the brand has released a revamped formula in the form of their Juicy Shakers! Here is our review of the shade, ‘Mangoes Wild’.
We’re a sucker for good packaging and this product does not disappoint! Fashioned to look like an old school martini shaker, this gloss looks both fun and sophisticated. The applicator is unlike any we’ve seen before, as it features a rounded, cushion-like tip. Rather than swiping on the colour, this applicator dabs the product on to your lips. The transparent bottle allows you to see the exact shade of the gloss.
As instructed, we shook our bottle to help distribute the pigment in the oil. Upon application, we found the formula to be non-sticky and moisturizing, which is a far cry from traditional lip glosses! ‘Mangoes Wild’ is a sheer, coral shade with a high amount of shine. For a more pigmented look, shake your bottle for a while longer and then apply the hue. Although we loved the mango-scented formula, the fragrance can bother those with sensitive noses.
If longevity is your main aim, then this gloss is not for you. Since it is an oil-based product, the colour slips off lips easily, especially during meal times. However, this point pales in comparison to how plush and soft our pout felt throughout the day! The sheer tint also enhanced the natural colour of our pout and made our lips look better.
Lustrous, nourishing and addictive, these adult-versions of the Juicy Tubes are bound to be a massive hit! Use them alone for a subtle pop of colour or layer them on top of your lipstick to add a mega dose of shine. Our advice? Just take ‘em and shake ‘em!
