Let me get this out of the way first – I hate foundations! Yes, as crazy as it sounds, there exists a beauty editor in the world that can’t stand the feeling of foundation on her face. Most formulas feel heavy and cakey on my skin, even when they are marketed as lightweight. On a normal day, I get away with bare skin or a few strategic swipes of concealer. Lately, however, my rosacea has been acting up which means that I either needed to gather the courage to walk out with a flushed complexion or slather a heavy-duty concealer all over my face. Since neither option seemed appealing to me, I decided to ask a sales associate to find me a product that delivered the necessary amount of coverage, without feeling like a foundation at all. Almost instantly, she handed me a tube of the It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better™ CC+ Cream with SPF 50+. Here is my review of the shade, ‘Medium’.
The product comes in a silver tube with a pump attached to it. The tube is has a transparent band around it, which allows you to see the shade inside. Whilst the pump definitely helps in dispensing the formula initially, it becomes difficult to get the last few drops out of it. On the formula front, this baby really delivers! The smooth and creamy consistency helped the product spread evenly across the skin. This texture also made it easier for me to blend the colour in seamlessly, without any patchiness. Whilst most foundations require a brush for application, this one goes on equally well when applied with fingers. Whilst the cream is marketed as full coverage, I found it to be more sheer-to-medium on the first go. However, since it is lightweight, it can easily be built up for more opacity. ‘Medium’ is a neutral-toned beige with a slightly dewy finish. Since I prefer a more natural look, I use a single pump of product on my whole face.

I’ve been wearing this product for a month now and have already pledged my allegiance to it. The formula stays put for over 8 hours, without caking or streaking. The colour stays true to the shade and doesn’t oxidise over time. What I truly love though is that I actually forget that I even have base makeup on! Thanks to the presence of hyaluronic acid, this product feels just like a refreshing moisturiser. It also plumps up my skin and doesn’t settle into the lines, which makes it a real winner in my books. However, if you do have combination or oily skin, your complexion may enhance the dewy finish. In such cases, remember to use a mattifying primer beneath the cream.
Lightweight, hydrating and pigmented, this cream is perfect for my needs. Plus, it protects my skin from the sun and delivers anti-aging benefits! What more could I really ask for?
