Review: Hourglass Scattered Light Glitter Eyeshadow In 'Foil'
With the festive season right around the corner, I’ve been looking for a product that can be sophisticated but still bring out my fun side. When the new Hourglass Scattered Light Glitter Eyeshadow launched, I felt that I had finally found the perfect product for the holidays. Here is my review of the shade, ‘Foil’.
The shadow comes in a transparent, glass container with a screw-on cap bearing the brand’s name. Once you take off the cap, you will find a clear, plastic disc, which tamps down the formula and stops it from getting loose. The exact shade name is mentioned on a sticker beneath the jar.
In terms of formula, this shadow was a delight to work with. The texture was a hybrid between a cream and powder, and went on evenly. Although the formula has a fair bit of glitter in it, it glided on smoothly, without feeling gritty. ‘Foil’ is a coppery-gold hue with a reflective, sparkly finish. A single coat provides medium coverage, whilst 2-3 layers are required to achieve maximum opacity. I prefer using my fingers or a damp brush to pat this product on.
I tested this shadow out over the weekend and was pretty pleased with the results. The metallic colour stayed true for over 6 hours, with minimal fading. The crystal-like finish brought in a ton of compliments and really opened up my eyes. However, there was a slight amount of fallout after 4 hours. Luckily, the stray glitter particles come off easily with a makeup wipe.
Pigmented, long lasting and glittery, this prismatic shadow is definitely the one to use when you want to create a statement. I can’t wait to experiment with it this season!
