Review: Dior Diorshow Pump 'N' Volume HD Mascara
I’ve only worn false lashes once in my life, but I instantly fell in love with the effect they had on my eyes! Unfortunately, I neither have the time nor the patience to painstakingly apply them on a daily basis. So, I’ve resorted to the next best thing – volume-boosting mascaras. Since there’s no formula as iconic as Dior’s Diorshow Pump ‘N’ Volume HD Mascara in ‘090 Black’, I decided to get my hands on it to see if it lives up to all the hype. Here is my review.
Unlike any mascara I’ve seen before, this one comes in a black, squeezable tube. The aim of this packaging is dual-fold. Once you press the tube, the brush gets coated evenly with the pigment. Additionally, the squeezing motion also warms up the formula so that it goes on smoothly. Not only is this feature great for application, but also prevents the mascara from drying out too quickly. Just be careful not to squish the tube too hard as it can cause the brush to get overloaded! The attached brush itself is dense and features a ton of rubber bristles. The only downside is that the tube can get sticky in humid climates, which takes away from the luxurious vibe of the product.
On the formula front, this mascara is pretty incredible. The creamy consistency helps the formula glide on, whilst the brush ensures that every lash is coated consistently. However, the rich texture can cause a small amount of clumping, which can be easily remedied once the formula dries down. The biggest plus point, however, is the pigmentation! In just a single sweep, this mascara deposits an intense, inky black coat of colour, with a satin-like finish.
I’ve been testing this mascara out on a few special occasions and have actually been asked if I had on falsies on or not! Every time I use it, my lashes are transformed into a thick fringe. The formula stays on for over 8 hours, without flaking or smudging. Whilst many mascaras make my lashes feel dry and crunchy, this one keeps them supple. However, I caution against using this formula on your lower lashes as the big brush and thick formula can make your application look messy.
Volumising, plush and saturated, this mascara is worth the price. Whilst the effects are too dramatic for a normal workday, a sweep of this mascara will definitely amp up your look when you go full glam!
