Review: Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick In ‘Very Victoria’
Although I love bright and dark shades equally, I’ve always been intrigued by the idea of owning an M.L.B.B. lipstick. What’s that you ask? It’s a term used to describe that shade that makes your lips look like themselves, but better. On a recent trip to London, I visited the Charlotte Tilbury store and came back with a lipstick that promised to do just that. Here is my review of the brand’s Matte Revolution Lipstick in ‘Very Victoria’.
Like the other lipsticks in this range, this one too comes in a serrated, rose gold tube. The angled, square-tipped bullet, which is a unique feature to this line, helps the colour reach every corner of the lips. The exact shade name is mentioned on a sticker beneath the tube.
Since I have tried a few other shades from this range, I knew what to expect from the formula. The creamy texture allowed the colour to glide on easily and evenly, without any tugging or patchiness. However, the pigmentation of this shade isn’t as great as the others. ‘Very Victoria’ is a neutral, pinkish-brown shade with a soft, matte finish. I required 3 coats to get complete opacity.
True to its promise, this shade definitely works for my lip tone. I’ve been wearing it to work practically every day this week and most of the time, I forget that I even have lipstick on. Whilst the colour lasts for only 3-4 hours, the light shade makes it easy to re-apply without a mirror. On the plus side, the formula feels mildly hydrating and doesn’t settle into the lines of my lips. It also doesn’t bleed or feather. However, I’ve noticed that the colour does fade after a meal.
Lightweight, plush and flattering, this lipstick is a great nude option. Not only is it work-friendly, but also pairs well with heavy eye makeup. For me, this baby is the perfect match. My lips really have never looked better!
