Review: Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick In ‘The Queen’
Here’s the truth: Ever since rumours have spread about Prince Harry and Megan Markle’s engagement, a large chunk of our office has been in mourning. With Prince William off the market, most of us were hoping at a shot at royalty by daydreaming about a chance encounter (and subsequent love story) with the younger prince. Although our hopes and dreams have been dashed, I decided to channel my inner empress by testing out Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolution Lipstick in ‘The Queen’ i.e. a product named after Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Here is my review.
Like the others in the range, this lipstick too comes in a beautiful, rose gold tube. The engraved cap adds to the opulent vibe and clicks firmly into place. Unlike a traditional lipstick, this range has a unique, square-tipped bullet. The angle and shape does the work of a lip brush by providing precision. The exact shade name is mentioned on a sticker beneath the tube.
In terms of formula, this lipstick definitely lives up to its royal name. The formula went on smoothly, without any tugging or patchiness. ‘The Queen’ is a gorgeous, reddish-pink hue with a semi-matte, satin-like finish. For maximum impact, I recommend that you layer on two to three coats.
I’ve been wearing this lipstick for a few weeks now and have been blown away by the results. Most matte lipsticks tend to dry out my pout and enhance the cracks and lines in my lips. This one however, does the exact opposite! Not only does it make my pout look fuller and plumper, but also keeps it moisturised. On a regular day (which includes several cups of coffee), this beauty lasts on my lips for about 5 hours, without bleeding or feathering. Post that, it fades into a uniform flush of colour, which looks really pretty.
Creamy, pigmented and hydrating, this lipstick is one of the most comfortable ones to wear. Plus, it makes me feel empowered, which is never a bad thing!
