You know the feeling when you step into a bakery, and immediately want to buy every loaf of freshly baked bread? That’s how we felt on seeing the L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Pure Reds Collection! With an extensive range of bold reds for every skin tone, we had a hard time limiting ourselves to just one lipstick. In the end, we picked the one most apt for our blog – Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively’s ‘Pure Scarleto’ shade!
In terms of packaging, L’Oreal has done a fantastic job. The lipstick comes in a sleek, glossy black case with Blake Lively’s signature on it. Perfect for mega-fans like us! The tube also features a colour block, which shows the shade of the lipstick inside.
The lipstick glides on smoothly and weightlessly, without any tugging. Despite being a matte formula, the product did not dry out our lips. However, the lipstick does settle into the fine lines on lips and may emphasise the cracks.
On the colour front, we had no complaints! ‘Pure Scarleto’ is a beautiful bright red with warm undertones. Opaque, highly pigmented and vivid, the lipstick provides a pleasant pop of colour. We recommend that you layer on two coats for maximum impact.
The colour lasted for a good five hours when we skipped lunch (the downside of being a beauty blogger). However, when we inhaled ate our subway sandwich, we were a tad disappointed to see that the lipstick had transferred and the colour had dulled. A quick touch-up brought back the vibrancy.
All in all, we advise you to buy this lipstick! Bold, lightweight and oh-so-pretty, ‘Pure Scarleto’ is definitely a shade that we’ll be using for a long time. Just remember to exfoliate and moisturize your lips before applying!
