Review: La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50+ Fluid Ultra-Light
Recently, at one of our team lunches, we got around to talking about our guilty beauty secrets. When it came to my turn, I confessed that I rarely use sunscreen. Yes, I know that not applying sunscreen can lead to a number of health hazards, but I truly hate the chalky, thick feeling and the consequent breakouts that occur! After everyone was done yelling at me, I was handed a bottle of La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50+ Fluid Ultra-Light. Since this sunscreen seems to be everyone’s Holy Grail, I decided to test it out. Here is my review.
The sunscreen comes packaged in a travel-friendly plastic bottle with a screw-on cap. In a nod to the brand’s no-nonsense approach, the bottle bears a clean design in a white and orange colour scheme. The attached nozzle helps dispense the right amount of product and prevents wastage.
As instructed, I poured out about 5 drops of this sunscreen onto my palm. The off-white colour and runny texture of this product may not look luxurious, but on application you start to appreciate these factors. The sunscreen went on smoothly and weightlessly, before drying down to an invisible film. On the downside, the formula does have a medicinal fragrance, which can bother those with sensitive noses.
To be honest, I wasn’t expecting too much out of this product, so I was pleasantly surprised with the results! Unlike most sunscreens, this one did not make my T-Zone look like an oil slick. In fact, my skin stayed blemish-free all week, despite a twice-daily application. This formula also happens to be waterproof and is your best bet whilst on the beach or in the pool.
Non-comedogenic, non-greasy and fast absorbing, this sunscreen is the one to buy. Although it’s more expensive than its competitors, there’s no doubting its efficacy!
