I’m very finicky when it comes to my hair. Whilst many people can just pick up a bottle of shampoo, I spend hours perusing the aisles to find one that will cleanse my locks, without stripping my scalp dry. However, when I found out that Kristin Ess, the queen of all things hair, was launching a hair care line, I took no time at all to start adding her products to my cart! Here is my review of her Scalp Purifying Micellar Shampoo.
The packaging of this product shows that it has been created by someone who really knows her stuff! The dark teal, squeezable bottle features a pointed nozzle that allows you to apply the formula directly to your scalp after you part your hair. The directions for use and the ingredients are mentioned on the back.
As per the instructions, I used the shampoo after wetting my hair. The clear, runny formula spread and lathered up quite well. The nozzle makes it convenient to distribute the shampoo all over the scalp. Although the shampoo felt a tad heavy when applied, it rinsed off easily. The formula has a light coconut scent to it.
I’ve used this product a couple of times now and have had mixed feelings about it. Whilst it isn’t as strong as a clarifying shampoo, it works well to remove a light layer of build-up. The formula is quite moisturizing which is great for those with dry or thick hair. The biggest plus point is that it leaves the scalp feeling balanced and hydrated. However, if you do have fine locks or are prone to greasiness, you may find that it weighs your hair down. I use it once a week in place of my regular shampoo to get a slightly deeper cleanse. Whenever I wash my mane with it, I find that my strands feel smoother and are less frizzy. However, I still prefer using a clarifying formula once a month to reset my scalp.
Purifying, yet moisturizing, this affordable shampoo is the perfect add-on to any hair care routine. Plus, it’s the most chic-looking product in my shower caddy at the moment!
