So naturally, we had to get out and buy GlamGlow’s SuperMud Clearing Treatment. Here is our review.
This cult-favourite mask comes packaged in two layers. The outer, octagonal box gives the impression that the product is quite large, but in reality, white and silver jar is on the smaller end. This type of packaging also gives rise to hygiene issues, as you have to dip your fingers in every time you use the product. To remedy this, we recommend using a clean brush to apply the mask. Also, do not dispose of the foil that covers the jar, as it prevents the formula from drying out.

On application, we found that the mask went on fairly easily in a semi-thick layer, except for the dried leaves, which were harder to apply. Since the ingredient list comprises of a list of powerful acids, such as lactic acid, salicylic acid and glycolic acid, we felt a tingling sensation almost immediately. As the mask dried, it changed from a charcoal hue to a light grey one. It also caused our skin to feel a little tighter, but not uncomfortably so.

After leaving the mask on for 15 minutes, we ran to inspect ourselves in the mirror. To our great satisfaction, we could actually see tiny black dots on our face – especially on our T-zones. These spots indicated all the oil and dirt that had been sucked out of pores. After rinsing off the mask with warm water, we were even more impressed. Our faces felt smoother, whilst our pores looked smaller and cleaner. The mask even managed to bring a painful zit to head. On the downside, the mask can be a tad drying so it’s best to follow it up with a moisturiser. Those of you with sensitive skin should carry out a patch test before using it.
Purifying, brightening and mattifying, this mud mask is a miracle worker. Use it once to twice a week to see the results yourself!
