Review: Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum
Although I am a self-confessed skincare addict, I’ve realised that my routine has been lacking one major product – a vitamin C serum. This ingredient is known to protect skin against sun damage, strengthen its natural barrier and fade pigmentation. Luckily, Drunk Elephant read my mind and sent over a bottle of their famous C-Firma Day Serum. Here is my review.
Like the other products from the brand, this one too comes in a cute, white bottle with a neon orange dispenser. To use the product, you have to twist the square-shaped top to allow the pump to pop out. Since vitamin C oxidises and loses its efficacy quickly, the airless pump and opaque packaging go a long way in preserving the formula. The inclusion of ferulic acid and vitamin E also help keep the serum stable. The directions for use are printed on the bottle, whilst the ingredients have been mentioned on the accompanying box.
On the formula front, this product is nothing like I’ve tried before. Although the serum has a thin consistency, it is also a tad sticky, which makes it difficult for the formula to spread. I’ve found that patting the product in is a lot more efficient than smearing it across your face. The plus point of this is that your skin literally glows once you’ve got the product on. The serum also has a light golden hue to it, but dries down invisibly. Whilst the product is free of any artificial fragrances or essential oils, it has a faint, funky smell that dissipates within a few minutes. I require a single pump to cover my entire face.
I’ve been using this serum for 2 weeks now and have already noticed some stellar results. The formula has managed to lighten up some pigmentation on my cheeks, whilst making my face look brighter and clearer. Since the ingredient list also mentions the addition of sodium hyaluronate, I wasn’t surprised to find that my skin felt more hydrated and plump. To get the maximum out of it, I recommend applying a moisturiser and sunscreen over it. However, if you do have active acne or eczema, this serum can aggravate your skin further as it contains fruit enzymes that work to exfoliate the skin.
Lightweight and powerful, this vitamin C serum is definitely worth purchasing. Since I’ve started using it, I’ve been more confident to skip foundation and flaunt my bare face!
