Not a day goes by where I don’t wish that I had inherited my mother’s unlined complexion or father’s great metabolism. Since I can’t go back and select the DNA I want, I decided to opt for the next best thing – Sunday Riley’s Good Genes.
Like all things luxurious, this treatment comes in a weighted, glass bottle. The opaque bottle has an attached pump, which dispenses the just the right amount of product. However, the bottle does not come with a cap, which is a cause for concern during travel. The list of ingredients, which include lactic acid, is printed on the back of the box.
As instructed, I applied this product on at night after cleansing. The brand recommends using 2-3 pumps, but I found that 1 pump was enough to cover my face. The formula has a slightly thick consistency, but went on smoothly and uniformly. Although my face looked shiny for a few minutes after application, the treatment absorbed quickly, without leaving a sticky residue. However, be prepared for a tingling sensation and a strong fragrance. Those with sensitive skin should do a patch test before trying this product out.
In terms of results, let’s just say that I now have great genes! After just one use, I noticed that my skin looked smoother and my pores looked smaller. Over the three weeks that I’ve been applying this lotion, the texture of my skin has improved drastically. The terms ‘glowing’ and ‘youthful’ have been thrown my way. In addition, this baby has also cleared up some persistent acne and lightened a troublesome scar on my chin.
Whilst you can use this product as a mask, I highly recommend keeping it on overnight if your skin can handle it. However, you need to be diligent about your sunscreen application the next day, as lactic acid increases your skin’s sensitivity to the sun. The price point definitely puts in the splurge category, but there’s no doubt that this bottle houses a miracle worker!
